Jarvo, the social media influencer known for his pitch invasions, has been prohibited by the International Cricket Council (ICC) from participating in any upcoming matches during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 held in India.
Jarvo, once again, attempted to disrupt the play between India and Australia, this time at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. His intentions were plain as he marched confidently toward the action, donning India’s blue jersey. However, quick-thinking security agents intervened to stop Jarvo in his tracks.
This incident represented just one in a series of disruptions engineered by Jarvo. It all began during India’s previous tour to England in 2021 when he made his debut appearance by leaping from the stands and heading right for the ground. While some might find such actions funny, it’s crucial to note the major security problems they offer for the participants involved in the game.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) spokesperson said, “The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities.”
ICC spokesperson also informed the press that the safety and security of each and everyone is their primary concern during the big ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, “The safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it happening again.”
Some media reports have raised concerns about Jarvo supposedly securing VIP passes for the World Cup, while regular fans struggle to obtain tickets for the games. Additionally, it has been noted that TNCA continued selling tickets for the India vs. Australia game until Sunday morning, despite earlier claims of the games being sold out during the tournament. These developments should be a cause for concern for the organizers of the tournament.
