Team India is getting ready to take on their enduring foe, Pakistan, in a high-stakes match that will take place at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. At a pre-game press conference conducted in Ahmedabad, Indian captain Rohit Sharma shared some encouraging updates regarding the availability of young opener Shubman Gill, heightening the anticipation.
Shubman Gill was out for the inaugural two league matches against Australia and Afghanistan while he fought dengue sickness. Initial reports pointed at the potential of his absence in the key clash against Pakistan also. However, Gill made his way to Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening and reconnected with the Indian squad following a brief medical stint in a Chennai hospital. In a comforting update, Indian captain Rohit has conveyed the great news that Gill’s fitness is now at an astounding 99%, putting him in strong stead for the much-anticipated battle against Pakistan.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, expressed that Shubman Gill is nearly at full fitness, with a 99% readiness for the upcoming match against Pakistan. Rohit said, “99% he (Shubman Gill) is available for the match. Rest we will see tomorrow.”
Gill joined the rest for a practice session, where he had a decent batting session in Ahmedabad last Friday. He’s anxious to regain his fitness swiftly and be a part of the much-anticipated battle between India and Pakistan.
In the first two league matches against Australia and Afghanistan, Ishan Kishan took the opening slot with the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma. Unfortunately, Kishan couldn’t make a meaningful impact in the match against Australia, as he was dismissed for a duck during the chase of a 200-run target. However, he rebounded back in the next game against Afghanistan in Delhi, when he contributed 47 runs to the team’s total. It’s worth noting that in that match, Kishan played with Rohit Sharma, who gained the distinction of recording the fastest century by an Indian batter in the World Cup.
In the event that Shubman Gill regains full fitness, he will be the one to replace Ishan Kishan in the playing XI.
With victories in their first two games, both India and Pakistan are off to a fantastic start. Pakistan defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, while India triumphed against Australia and Afghanistan. The management of the Indian team appears likely to keep the same starting lineup that succeeded against Afghanistan.
