New Zealand made an impressive entry into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 by clinching victory in their initial four matches. Nonetheless, their journey took a challenging turn as they faced three consecutive losses, casting doubt on their chances of reaching the semi-finals.
At just 23 years old, this cricketer is making his World Cup debut for New Zealand and had the opportunity to open the innings due to Kane Williamson’s absence. Initially known as a spin-bowling all-rounder, Ravindra has impressively emerged as the top and second-highest run-scorer for New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 held in India.
In the crucial encounter against Pakistan, Rachin Ravindra scored a stunning century, delivering a much-needed boost to the team. He achieved his hundred in just 88 balls, establishing a strong foundation for the power hitters deeper down the batting order. Ravindra seemed set for a monumental innings, but sadly, he was removed after amassing 108 runs off 94 balls, including 15 boundaries and a lone six.
What’s truly astonishing is that this represents his third century in the ongoing competition, making him the first New Zealand batsman to achieve such a feat in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup. As of now, he has amassed a total of 523 runs with an amazing average and strike rate of 74.71 and 107.39, respectively.

In addition to his centuries, Rachin Ravindra has notched up two half-centuries as well. What’s remarkable is that he’s now matched Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time World Cup records from the 1996 World Cup. Back then, Sachin had accumulated 523 runs before turning 25, and as of now, Ravindra has already reached that same milestone, with a few more games still to go. Currently, New Zealand is in a strong position in their match against Pakistan and aims to set a substantial total.
