Danish Kaneria, the former Pakistani cricketer, has been making waves in the news with his recent statements and viewpoints on a range of issues. In his most recent move, the 42-year-old has stepped up to appeal to the Prime Minister of India and the BCCI for assistance in removing his lifetime ban by the ECB.
Danish Kaneria, the former Pakistani cricket star, continues to make headlines with his candid remarks and viewpoints spanning various subjects. Notably, the 42-year-old has recently appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), seeking their backing.
In a heartfelt plea, Kaneria has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their support in reversing the lifelong ban imposed on him by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) back in 2012. This ban was the result of his unfortunate association with spot-fixing.
“I would like to appeal to Prime Minister Modi and the BCCI to help me remove the ban that was imposed on me by the ECB,” Danish Kaneria was quoted as saying by AajTak.
Back in 2012, the former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria faced a life ban from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) due to his involvement in a spot-fixing scandal. This decision came about because of his collaboration with Mervyn Westfield during their stint with the English county Essex. They were found guilty of participating in spot-fixing during a match against Durham in 2009. Kaneria had a hand in persuading Westfield to partake in spot-fixing, directing him to concede 12 runs in a specific over.
Turning our attention to Pakistan, the Pakistani cricket team, led by Babar Azam, is currently participating in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Regrettably, they have not found their full stride in the competition. With five games under their belt, they’ve only secured victory in two of them.

In a recent face-off, Pakistan took on Afghanistan in the 22nd match of the tournament. Opting to bat first, Pakistan had a promising start, with opener Abdullah Shafique making a solid 58 runs. Their captain, Babar Azam, added 74 runs from 92 deliveries, and both Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed contributed 40 runs each. Together, these efforts helped Pakistan reach a competitive total of 282 runs.
Unfortunately, Pakistan’s hopes of defending this score were dashed as their bowlers struggled. The outstanding batting performances by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran paved the way for Afghanistan to successfully chase down the target, securing a convincing eight-wicket victory.
