Pakistan’s cricket team has received unfortunate news as their star fast bowler, Naseem Shah, is expected to sit out the entire 2023 ODI World Cup due to a more serious shoulder injury than initially thought.
The results from the shoulder scans turned out to be more critical than initially predicted. However, there’s a ray of light as the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) is examining the prospect of seeking a second medical opinion.
But, should the second scan produce identical findings as the first, Naseem Shah may be facing an extended absence from football. This 20-year-old cricket sensation might find himself sidelined for the Test series against Australia in January 2024 and the 2024 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Naseem sustained his shoulder injury during a match against India in the Super Four stage of the tournament.
If Naseem’s injury truly proves to be as severe as feared, it might inflict a big blow to Pakistan. Despite his young age, Naseem has already become one of the primary cornerstones of Pakistan’s bowling assault. He has an outstanding record, having competed in exactly 50 matches for Pakistan across various formats and capturing 98 wickets in total.
Naseem’s exceptional talent and unwavering drive have made him one of the most promising possibilities in Pakistan’s current cricket team. His absence might potentially have long-term ramifications for the squad.
Regarding Pakistan’s recent performances, the squad fell short in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. They were eliminated by Sri Lanka in what felt like a simulated semi-final during the Super Four stage of the tournament.
After overcoming Pakistan, Sri Lanka won their position in the final and will be trying to retain their championship against Team India in the forthcoming final battle scheduled for Sunday, September 17th.
