Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has criticized former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza for leveling unfounded allegations against the Indian team, BCCI, and ICC during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
In the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India has maintained an impeccable record, winning all eight of their matches and securing a spot in the semi-finals. Their final league encounter is set to be held in Bengaluru on Sunday, where they will face the Netherlands.
Hasan Raza, a former cricket player from Pakistan, has been fervently expressing his opinions on the ABN Sports TV program, raising certain allegations. His initial claim is that the ICC and BCCI may have manipulated matches in favor of the Indian team by providing them with distinct types of cricket balls compared to other teams. This allegation stems from India’s resounding victory over Sri Lanka, with a margin of 302 runs in Mumbai, where they restricted the opponents to a mere 55 runs while defending a total of 357. Notably, Mohammed Shami played a crucial role in this game, taking 5 wickets for just 18 runs.
Raza’s second accusation emerged after India’s dominant win over South Africa by a significant 243-run margin in Kolkata. In this instance, Hasan Raza suggested that the BCCI might be involved in manipulating the Decision Review System (DRS) in favor of the Indian team. This assertion came on the heels of a disputed LBW decision involving Heinrich Klaasen.

Following Raza’s claims about the Indian team receiving different balls, the prominent Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram expressed his curiosity about the matter, indicating his interest in experiencing similar conditions as Raza had mentioned.
Indian pace sensation Mohammad Shami actively engaged in the dispute, addressing Hasan Raza’s actions. Shami emphasized to Raza that they were participating in an ICC event, emphasizing its international stature, and he also pointed out Raza’s prior experience in international cricket.
He posted on his social media: “Sharm karo yaar game par focus karo na ki faltu bakwas par kabhi to dusre ki success ko enjoy kia karo, Chii yaar ICC World Cup hai apka local cricket tournament, nahi hai or aap player hi the naa. Wasim bhai ne samjhaya hai explain kia tha phir bhi. Apne player, apne Wasim akram par yakin nahi apko apna tarif karne main lage hai janab aap to just like a wow”
In his Instagram story, Shami didn’t go into details but encouraged Raza to relish the team’s achievements, considering his background as a former player.
