Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden revealed his 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup 2023 and made some bold changes for the World Cup.
Teams are bustling with last-minute preparations as they gear up for the highly anticipated marquee event. Fans and experts alike are chiming in with their opinions on how teams should structure their lineup for the tournament. Keeping in line with this, the legendary Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has offered his insights into how India’s 15-member squad should shape up as they aim for their third World Cup victory.
Hayden, a two-time World Cup champion himself, has put forward his predictions for India’s squad in the upcoming edition of the grand event. Interestingly, he has chosen not to include the wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in his envisioned lineup.
The former Australian batsman, Matthew Hayden recently unveiled his Indian squad for the World Cup 2023 and he made some big changes in the Indian squad which has taken abuzz on social media.
Talking to Star Sports, Hayden said, “The job which he hates the most is selecting any squad for the tournament. In the Indian context, I would love to see Sanju Samson in the squad. Also, India needs more all-rounders than batters so Axar Patel will be a better choice than Tilak Verma.”
Chahal didn’t make it to the roster for the Asia Cup 2023. On the other side, Kuldeep clinched his spot following a successful three-game ODI series against West Indies. Surprisingly, both the wrist-spinning jewels didn’t find a place in Hayden’s expected World Cup lineup. Instead, the attention is on all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, who are the sole spin-bowling possibilities.

The fast bowling responsibilities are handed to Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
