India will face Pakistan on October 14 in the ICC World Cup 2023, earlier it was scheduled to be played on October 15 in Ahmedabad. BCCI had proposed ICC to change the dates of this mega clash between two rivals due to security concerns during the Navratri Festival
The much-anticipated World Cup clash between India and Pakistan, initially planned for October 15, has been rescheduled to October 14 in Ahmedabad. This decision was reached collaboratively by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the International Cricket Council (ICC), as reported by PTI.
The reason behind the rescheduling was to address security concerns arising from the Navratri festival, which coincides with the original date of the match in Ahmedabad. The ICC will soon provide an updated schedule, as there may be further adjustments to other games involving different teams.
As for the specific matches initially planned in Chennai and Bengaluru, those were Pakistan’s games against Afghanistan and Australia, respectively. These matches will now be subject to the rescheduling to accommodate the changes.
It’s worth noting that concerns raised by former PCB chief Najam Sethi regarding playing against India in Ahmedabad were reportedly not taken into account during the decision-making process.
