The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the official tournament anthem, named “DIL JASHN BOLE” on Wednesday, September 20th, with just 15 days left before the commencement of the 2023 World Cup in Ahmedabad.
The ICC enlisted the talents of one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Ranveer Singh, to create their official anthem for the World Cup. This anthem also featured Dhanashree Verma, the wife of India’s renowned leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal. Alongside them, several popular social media and YouTube artists, including Flying Beast and BeYouNick, lent their voices to the song.
For the 2023 World Cup, a stellar lineup of singers, including Pritam, Nakash Aziz, Sreerama Chandra, Amit Mishra, Jonita Gandhi, AKASA, and Charan, came together to deliver the official anthem. Pritam took the reins for composing the music, while the lyrics were masterfully crafted by Shloke Lal and Saaveri Verma. The rap segment was skillfully written and performed by Charan.
The anthem’s central theme revolved around a train, with Ranveer Singh taking center stage. Unfortunately, it failed to resonate with fans, falling short in comparison to the anthems of the past three ODI World Cups. Most notably, it struggled to evoke the same passion and emotion that the 2011 anthem, titled ‘De Ghumake,’ had stirred among fans.
Fans trolled the ICC and Ranveer Singh after the official World Cup 2023 anthem was released:
