All ten skippers who were partaking in the ICC World Cup 2023 convened for a special event termed ‘Captains’ Day’ in the vibrant city of Ahmedabad on a pleasant Wednesday, 4th of October. England is set to defend their World Cup title, presenting a fantastic opportunity for other teams to clinch the World Champions title.
Prior to the commencement of the 2023 World Cup, a gathering of all ten team captains was convened in Ahmedabad, India. Every captain graced the event with their presence, setting the stage for the tournament that would unfold across ten different venues in the country.
All ten captains were present, and among them was Temba Bavuma, the captain from South Africa. It’s worth noting that Bavuma missed the South African team’s warm-up routine due to personal issues, having had to return home. South Africa experienced a rainout in their first match against Afghanistan and a loss in their second game against New Zealand. In Bavuma’s absence, Aiden Markram stepped in to head the team.
Temba Bavuma has recently rejoined the team and was present at the event hosted in Ahmedabad. However, it looked like the 33-year-old skipper had grown weary, and he was discovered taking a nap during the captains’ day event. As soon as photographs of him nodding off appeared online, supporters couldn’t stop sharing them, making it the center of talk in town.
Here is how fans reacted to Bavuma’s incident:
