Virat Kohli, the star batsman for Team India, is gearing up for his fourth appearance in the ODI World Cup. With the tournament being hosted on home soil, India has its sights set on securing a third title. Kohli, who recently rediscovered his form after a challenging three-year period, will once again assume the pivotal role of anchoring India’s batting lineup.
Once again, Virat Kohli will be the linchpin of India’s batting lineup as he heads into the forthcoming competition. He’s back in top form after a three-year dry spell. At 34 years old, he’s the lone remaining active player from the successful 2011 squad, alongside Ravichandran Ashwin.
This year, the Delhi batter has been in great form, scoring 612 runs from 13 innings, averaging 55.63, and sporting a strike rate of 112.91. His amazing score includes three centuries and two half-centuries. Recently, on reflecting on his hard era, the former Indian captain said that he’s undergone substantial personal growth and transformation as a result of those events.
“The last two and a half years have taught me a lot. Those angry celebrations are a thing of the past. I have had many suggestions, lots of advice has come my way; people were telling me I was doing this wrong, that wrong,” Kohli was quoted as saying by ICC.
Looking ahead, the top-notch batter disclosed that his recent slump in performance stemmed more from his emotional state rather than any technical deficiencies.
“I picked out all the videos from the best time I had, same initial movement, same approach towards the ball and it was just what was happening inside my head, I wasn’t able to explain it to anyone,” Virat further added.
Virat Kohli stands as the second-highest run-getter for India in ODI World Cups, amassing a total of 1030 runs from 26 innings. His performance has been impressive, maintaining an average of 46.81 and a strike rate of 86.70, including two centuries and six half-centuries. The renowned batsman is undoubtedly eager to shine with the bat once more, aiming to play a pivotal role in bringing an end to India’s ICC Trophy drought.
