The former Indian batsman and commentator Akash Chopra believes that changes in the World Cup schedule are going to create more difficulties for the fans who will be coming to watch their favorite team matches.
In a recent update about the World Cup 2023 schedule, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a new plan for nine matches in the upcoming tournament, including the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash.
This modification has triggered conversations among fans and experts. Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener and well-known commentator, discussed the implications of this change in a video on his YouTube channel. He highlighted how this adjustment could affect fans who have already arranged their accommodations for the event.
Akash Chopra said:
“India vs Pakistan match, originally slated for October 15 in Ahmedabad, has been moved to the 14th. The alteration might seem minor, but for those who have already booked their hotel rooms and other arrangements, this shift poses a challenge.”
The schedule change was needed because the initial date coincided with the start of the Navratri festival. Chopra recognized that this adjustment might not have a big impact on broadcasters, but he highlighted the challenge for fans who had already planned their accommodations based on the original schedule.
“It’s not just about the 14th or the 15th. The issue arises for those who were already struggling to find suitable places to stay. With the date change, they now face even more difficulties,” he added.
“It won’t work out with just one change. It was going to have a cascading effect. There was supposed to be a Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match in Hyderabad on October 12. That will now be played on the 10th so that Pakistan also gets four days to recuperate.” he concluded.
