South Africa Women’s team is gearing up to host New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka for their home season. They will begin their home season with a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, followed by a five-match T20I series.
The South African women’s cricket team is currently in Karachi, engaged in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Their last T20I series against Nida Dar’s team ended in a humiliating 3-0 defeat, and now they’re looking to improve their fortunes in the 50-over format.
Following the third ODI, slated to be played on Thursday, September 14, the Proteas will take off to their home base for a bustling home season. Their calendar already includes hosting New Zealand for three ODIs followed by five T20Is in September and October. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that Laura Wolvaardt and her team will have two more home assignments against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh, who secured a historic ODI triumph against India earlier this year, have been displaying tremendous growth lately. They are slated to play three T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa in December, stretching over four cities: Benoni, Kimberley, East London, and Potchefstroom. These identical grounds will once again host matches for the three-match T20I and three-match ODI series featuring South Africa and Sri Lanka in March-April 2024.
“Taking on the challenges posed by Bangladesh and Sri Lanka marks both the exciting continuation and culmination of our 2023/24 summer of cricket for the Proteas Women. These inbound tours hold the promise of thrilling cricket action and provide our team with another opportunity to shine on the international stage,” CSA’s Chief Executive Pholetsi Moseki said.
“It’s particularly intriguing to welcome Bangladesh in the heart of the South African summer during the festive month of December. The blend of international cricket with the year-end jollity in the country will be a treat for sports enthusiasts across the nation, while Sri Lanka’s visit towards the end of the season will serve as a fitting finale to what promises to be a busy and, hopefully, successful campaign for the Proteas Women,” he further added.
