The Mumbai Indians, who clinched the title last season by beating Delhi Capitals in the final with a seven-wicket victory, have just revealed their fresh jersey for the upcoming WPL 2024.
The second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is eagerly anticipated after the resounding success of its inaugural season last year. Cricket enthusiasts are excitedly looking forward to the upcoming tournament.
Skechers India has once again taken up the task of crafting the official playing uniforms for the Mumbai Indians women’s squad, skillfully combining comfort and style. Monisha Jaising’s creative touch is evident in the jersey design, drawing inspiration from the peacock, symbolizing a harmonious blend of strength and elegance.
“The jersey’s print is inspired by the shades of blue of the feathers on the peacock’s neck and breast that show a characteristic colour and size gradient. The coral-peach colour is inspired by the central part of the feather called the stem, which belongs to the coral-brown palette. The gradient pattern takes inspiration from natural geometric and colour gradient seen on the neck and breast feathers of the peacock,” Mumbai Indians wrote in an official statement.
Harmanpreet Kaur and her team are set to debut their new jerseys on February 23 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as they kick off WPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals. The player edition jersey is available for purchase at Rs 3,999 on the Mumbai Indians’ official website.
In the previous season, Mumbai had an impressive run, winning six out of eight matches in the round-robin phase to secure a spot in the Eliminator. Nat Sciver-Brunt, the England all-rounder, topped the run charts for the team with 332 runs in 10 innings, maintaining an average of 66.40 and a strike rate of 140.08. Harmanpreet (281 runs) and Hayley Matthews (271 runs) also had noteworthy performances. Matthews, in addition to her batting prowess, shared the title of the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, claiming 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 12.62. The West Indies captain’s outstanding all-round contributions earned her the Player of the Series award.
