The remarkable milestone was achieved during their ongoing match against South Africa at the W.A.C.A. Ground. After a formidable first innings performance, the Australian women’s team declared at 575 for 9, securing a commanding lead of 499 runs over their opponents.
Australia achieved a historic milestone in women’s Test cricket, securing their highest-ever team total with a remarkable score of 575/9, surpassing their previous record set against England in 1998. This achievement underscores Australia’s dominance in the women’s cricket arena.
Annabel Sutherland displayed her batting prowess, notching up the fourth-highest individual score in women’s Test cricket at 210 runs off 256 deliveries. The 22-year-old received a well-deserved standing ovation from the crowd, contributing significantly to Australia’s commanding position.
Kiran Baluch of Pakistan still holds the record for the highest individual score in women’s Test cricket, with an impressive 242 runs against the West Indies in 2004. Mithali Raj and Ellyse Perry are the only other players who have surpassed Sutherland’s total.
