The senior women’s team will be captained by Harmanpreet Kaur with Smriti Mandhana as the vice-captain. The BCCI has taken care to find a team with youngsters. Probably that’s why finding that kind of talent throughout the year with their performances and abilities in mind is a tough job. Meanwhile, If we talk about the senior Indian women’s cricket team then Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian side has delivered some terrific performances against the Bangladesh women’s team in a T20I series and won it by 2-1.
Some new faces made their debut in the series and some didn’t come to find a place in the Team. While keeping everything in mind, BCCI announced the squad where they trusted their full-time captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana for their leadership role. Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque, and Pooja Vastrakar are in the standby list.
Young pacer Titas Sadhu who had remarkably impressed in India’s title-winning campaign at the inaugural U-19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa was added to the squad. She performed brilliantly throughout the ICC tournament for the team and helped the Indian side to win the inaugural ICC U-19 title. The 18-year-old is not part of the Indian squad currently in Bangladesh. Rookie spinners like Minnu Mani and Anusha Bareddy, who are in Bangladesh, have been included. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh, who was dropped from the Bangladesh tour on fitness grounds, is also back and India’s star pacer Renuka Singh Thakur misses out without any clues along with Yastika Bhatia who is currently part of the squad in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, India has already sent squads for big sports such as shooting, boxing, archery, and badminton have already been announced by the respective national sports federations (NSFs).

Some Questions still remain unanswered like Why Shreyanka Patil, the Star Performer for India in the ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup with 9 wickets in her bag and leading her team to victory, didn’t get selected why? You’re not trying to back your senior players despite their commitment to the game is not always a good idea, players like Renuka and Shikha Pandey who have a lot of experience in leading the bowling attack are left out, why?
