In a significant step towards empowering women and driving change in Rajasthan, the IPL team Rajasthan Royals has introduced a pioneering program.
In a bid to bolster and uplift women-driven progress in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Royals IPL franchise has pledged to furnish six households with solar power for every sixer scored by both teams during their #PinkPromise showdown against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 6 in Jaipur.
This initiative follows the Royals’ decision to dedicate their entire matchday attire to supporting the cause of empowering women in Rajasthan and across India through their social outreach arm – the Royal Rajasthan Foundation (RRF). Sporting distinctive all-pink uniforms, the team will also feature the names of some of RRF’s female beneficiaries, showcasing admiration and recognition for their contributions.
Established in 2019, the RRF has been driven by the powerful vision of “Aurat Hai Toh Bharat Hai.” Its mission has been focused on empowering the women of Rajasthan by ensuring they have equal access to resources such as water, livelihoods, clean energy, and mental health support.
To further empower women-led initiatives in Rajasthan, the founding champions have pledged to contribute all earnings from the sale of unique all-pink matchday jerseys to the Foundation. Additionally, they’ve promised to donate INR 100 for each ticket bought for the #PinkPromise match.
Jake Lush McCrum, Chief Executive Officer, Rajasthan Royals, said, “With the vision of ‘Aurat Hai Toh Bharat Hai’, the Foundation has positively impacted the lives of more than 15 million women in Rajasthan over the last five years, and our ambition is to create a rural transformation model which can be replicated and scaled up in not just other parts of Rajasthan, but also across the country. We are incredibly motivated by the awareness this match can provide and the funds that will be raised for this important project.”
The Royals will be aiming to maintain their solid beginning to the 2024 season as they face off against RCB this Saturday.
