In a remarkable performance at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot, India dominated the Third Test against England. After posting a formidable total of 445 runs and dismissing the England squad for 319 in the first innings, India continued their dominance by adding another 430 runs in the second innings before declaring.
The real highlight of the match was India’s exceptional bowling, as they dismantled the English batting lineup, restricting them to a mere 112 runs in just 39.4 overs on Day 4. This outstanding display led India to a resounding victory, winning by a massive margin of 434 runs – the biggest ever in Indian Test history.
All the credit goes to the stellar performances, including Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double century and Rohit Sharma’s 11th century, India now leads the series 2-1 against England. The Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium witnessed a historic moment as India celebrated their biggest-ever win in terms of runs, showcasing their dominance in the test series.
Mohammed Siraj took four wickets in the first innings, and Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets in the second innings. This was Jadeja’s fourth century. India’s last great success in Test cricket was in 2021 when they beat New Zealand by 372 runs. The next year, in Delhi, they beat South Africa by 337 runs. India is now ranked second in the World Test Championship (WTC) after their excellent win over England.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 214, coupled with impressive performances from Shubman Gill (91) and Sarfraz Khan (68*), propelled India to a commanding lead of over 500 runs in the second innings. Captain Rohit Sharma and the team, acknowledging their strong position, declared the innings, setting England a challenging target of 556 runs.
The English batsmen faced a daunting task from the start, struggling and losing wickets consistently. The local boy Ravindra Jadeja rolled all over the English batting lineup, taking a fifer he destroyed the entire batting lineup.
The upcoming fourth Test between India and England will take place at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi starting from 23rd February.
