Fans erupted with excitement as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) achieved their highest-ever total in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Once again, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) left their fans disappointed with a lackluster performance from their bowlers in the ongoing IPL 2024 match against the SunRisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The surprise exclusion of star bowler Mohammed Siraj from the playing XI added to the initial shock for RCB supporters.
Facing the SunRisers Hyderabad’s batting onslaught, Travis Head led the charge from the get-go, mercilessly punishing the RCB bowlers. He found a solid partner in Abhishek Sharma (34), and together, they built a formidable opening partnership of 108 runs. Head’s incredible century (102) further solidified SRH’s dominance, with Heinrich Klaasen (67) adding to RCB’s woes with his aggressive batting.
Even as the innings progressed, Aiden Markram (32*) and Abdul Samad (37*) capitalized on the strong foundation laid by their teammates, ensuring that no opportunity was wasted. Their unbeaten 56-run partnership bolstered SRH’s total to a monumental 287 runs, setting a new record for the highest total in IPL history, surpassing their own record set just days prior against the Mumbai Indians.
RCB’s bowling unit struggled to contain the onslaught, with every bowler conceding runs at an economy rate of over 10. Lockie Ferguson managed to take two wickets, but aside from him and Reece Topley, the rest of the bowlers failed to make an impact.
With just one win out of six games so far in the league, RCB faces the looming threat of elimination from the IPL. The team’s bowling department has been a glaring issue throughout the season, contributing significantly to their poor performance.
Following SRH’s record-breaking batting display, fans took to Twitter to express their awe at the sheer brutality of their batting onslaught.
