Harry Brook, the emerging cricket star from England, has openly expressed remorse for the regrettable remarks he made during the IPL 2023 season.
At just 24 years old, the cricketer went through a tumultuous journey in the tournament, openly admitting to lapses in judgment that took a toll on his mental well-being. In a proactive move to safeguard his mental health, he has decided to distance himself from social media platforms.
Harry Brook’s ascent in international cricket landed him a lucrative spot in the Indian Premier League, with Sunrisers Hyderabad securing him for a substantial sum of Rs 13.25 crore. While he enjoyed a stellar beginning to his international career with notable performances in test cricket, the IPL presented a unique set of challenges for Brook. The pressure mounted as doubts emerged about his ability to live up to the significant price tag associated with his name.
Brook’s roller coaster ride in the IPL was marked by both triumphs and setbacks. His remarkable century at Eden Gardens showcased his immense talent, yet the initial promise gave way to a slump in form. This downturn drew attention from critics on social media, casting a shadow over his earlier successes.
“I was an idiot, and I said that stupid thing in an interview, which I regret a little bit,” Brook confessed, acknowledging the impact of social media on his mental state. He explained that being in India, away from the comfort of his routine, exacerbated the situation. “I find myself just scrolling through Instagram or Twitter and coming across stuff you just don’t want to see,” he said.

“I’ve been off social media for a while now. Anything I stumble across, I delete from the phone. I haven’t really seen any negativity. I think that’s helped my game, helped my mental health, and everything to be off social media and seeing all the negativity that brings,” Brook further added.
Getting ready for the IPL 2024 season following his separation from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Brook stresses the value of this temporary vacation for recharging both his mental and physical well-being.
