England veteran pacer Stuart Broad achieved a major milestone during the fourth ongoing Ashes Test in Manchester. He joined the Elite list of bowlers to pick 600 Test wickets, he achieved this milestone by dismissing Travis Head on the first day of the Fourth Ashes Test. He also surpassed Ian Botham as the England bowler with the most wickets against Australia. Stuart Broad’s total wickets against Australia have risen to 149 which is by far, the most wickets by any England player.
Before this match, Broad had 598 wickets to his name. He got his early breakthrough and his 599th wicket in the form of Usman Khawaja with a magnificent delivery. The England bowlers were bowling brilliantly throughout the match and never made the Aussies take control of the game at any given point of time. The England bowlers kept picking wickets with David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith getting starts but not able to convert them into big scores.
Broad picked the wicket of Travis Head soon after the tea break with a sharp catch by Zak Crawley to join the list of elite list of bowlers to grab 600 wickets in the longer format.
It was a super bowling effort from England’s side. The pitch was really good and had a good piece of seam movement to offer where Australian batters were seen in discomfort to face their bowlers. It was a remarkable performance from the England bowlers to restrict Australia under 299-8 on the first day.

Stuart Broad’s total wickets includes 167 which he has picked since the start of 2019, the highest for any bowler in this period. Broad, who played 42 Test matches in this period, had struck once every 48 balls and averaged less than 24. 62
