Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer, has shared his words of wisdom with the young Indian talents gearing up for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Fans continue to grapple with the grief of their home World Cup 2023 final loss, Team India is gearing up for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA in June. Their path to the T20 World Cup 2022 ended in the semi-final in Adelaide, when England emerged triumphant, subsequently capturing the trophy by defeating Pakistan in the final at the MCG.
Many cricket lovers feel that India’s T20 cricket is still stuck in the past, sometimes blaming the batters for playing for personal goals. However, Rohit Sharma has been aggressively striving to reverse this notion. His aggressive mentality and attacking batting style highlighted the World Cup 2023 for India, delivering a peek of a new approach.
The KKR mentor conversed with fans and answered a range of queries during a Twitter Q&A session last Friday.
When an X user Madhav Sharma, with his handle @HashTagCricket, asked Gambhir to give his advice to the Indian players for big games like the T20 World Cup 2024, Gambhir gave this reply: “Don’t fall for creating an image. Be yourself!”
Some time back, Gautam Gambhir had endorsed the inclusion of both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad. Gambhir recommended that Rohit Sharma take the helm of the national team in the forthcoming T20 World Cup next year.
“Absolutely, both [Kohli and Rohit] need to be picked, both should be picked. And, more importantly, I want to see Rohit Sharma captain in the T20 World Cup. Yes, Hardik Pandya has captained in T20Is, but I still want to see Rohit Sharma captain in the T20 World Cup,” Gambhir had told Sportskeeda.
The World Cup is scheduled to take place in the Caribbean and the USA from June 4 to 30 next year.
