The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 set to take place in the USA and the West Indies this June.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the left-hand batter, is set to lead a balanced 15-member squad, mixing young talent with seasoned veterans.
In this squad, experience meets youth, with key figures like Shakib Al Hasan, a stalwart who has graced every T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007, lending their expertise. Alongside Shakib, players like Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, and Mahmudullah bring a wealth of knowledge to the team.
Despite Taskin Ahmed’s recent side strain during the Zimbabwe series, his inclusion indicates the team’s confidence in his abilities, with close attention given to his recovery leading up to the tournament.
The team is banking on Taskin’s recuperation over the next few weeks to ensure his readiness for the opening game. Bangladesh boasts talents like Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Tanzim Hasan in the bowling department, capable of disrupting any opponent’s batting lineup.
With two traveling reserves in tow, the Shanto-led squad has backup options in case of injuries during the tournament.
Bangladesh finds themselves in Group D, facing challenges from cricket powerhouses like South Africa, and Sri Lanka, and emerging teams like the Netherlands and Nepal. Their campaign kicks off against Sri Lanka on June 7 in Dallas, with subsequent matches against South Africa, Netherlands, and Nepal following in different venues across the USA.
The Bengal Tigers are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations as they gear up to make their mark in the tournament. The Bangladesh team will be leaving for the USA later this month.
