Pakistan is gearing up to face Australia in a three-match Test series starting from December 14. However, the team has made news for the wrong reasons as Saud Shakeel and Sarfaraz Ahmed were observed having a heated exchange during a practice session.
Amidst the prevailing optimism surrounding the Pakistan Test side under Shan Masood’s captaincy, a video has surfaced, capturing a tense moment during their training session in Canberra. The incident unfolded just before their crucial Test series in Australia, with senior wicketkeeper and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed involved in a heated exchange with Saud Shakeel.
In the widely circulated video, Sarfaraz Ahmed, dressed in his batting gear, can be seen in a verbal altercation with Saud Shakeel, who patiently awaited his turn in the nets. The discussion escalated into a heated argument, with both players passionately expressing their opinions. Although the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, it appeared to center around a disagreement regarding their batting turns during practice.
A video capturing the argument between both players was uploaded to YouTube where Shakeel was saying, “For how long will I continue to be of use to you?”
Sarfaraz, the former Pakistan skipper, responded by saying, “You won’t be of any use to me. To begin with, I never instructed you to do anything. I never requested that you make a swap. I swapped with the person I intended to.”
Both players garnered notice during an intra-squad practice match ahead of the team’s journey to Australia for the series. It’s worth mentioning that Sarfaraz made a timed-out dismissal appeal against Shakeel during the game. In response to the appeal, Shakeel hurried towards the pitch without even having the opportunity to don his gloves. Upon reaching the crease, the umpire ruled that Shakeel was not out, ruling out the appeal and the possibility of a timed-out dismissal.
Sarfaraz Ahmed and Saud Shakeel are expected to play pivotal roles in Pakistan’s upcoming Test series against Australia. A recent incident during Pakistan’s intra-squad match before their departure Down Under caught the fans’ eye. In this episode, Sarfaraz Ahmed tried to prompt Saud Shakeel to speed up as the young batter seemed to be taking an unusually long time to make his way to the crease.
