The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) recently announced a piece of exciting news about a forthcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which is set to take place in Sri Lanka, scheduled from August 22 to 26.
The first two matches of the series are slated to happen in Hambantota on the 22nd and 24th of August, followed by the final thrilling ODI in Colombo on the 26th.
This anticipated ODI series between Pakistan vs Afghanistan will bring more heat and excitement before the Asia Cup and in the World Cup later this year as well. They have diligently planned training sessions on the 19th, 20th, and 21st of August, ensuring their strategies and planning regarding the series.
Beyond being an exciting series in itself, these ODIs will serve as valuable preparation for both teams ahead of the 50-over Asia Cup. This prestigious tournament is set to kick off on August 30, with Pakistan taking on Nepal in the city of Multan.
In the previous clash between these two teams, Pakistan had emerged victorious in all four ODIs played against Afghanistan. Their last meeting took place during the World Cup back in 2019.
Afghanistan is all set to host Pakistan for the 2nd time this year after securing a 2-1 series victory in a three T20I match series earlier this year in Sharjah.
ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf said that they are confident of doing well and putting on a fine cricketing show during the series. He added: “Our previous ODI assignment was a 2-1 series victory in our away tour to Bangladesh, which has boosted the team’s morale for the Pakistan Series. We are satisfied with our preparations for the Asia Cup as we have featured in multiple ODI commitments in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh recently, and playing Pakistan, in Sri Lanka, will help our squad for read the conditions and further prepare for the event”.
