Pakistan Team will be joining this year’s edition of the Road Safety World Series for the first time ever. The Road Safety World Series has been played in India till now but this upcoming edition is scheduled to be played in England.
The upcoming third season of the Road Safety World Series is set to mark a significant milestone as it welcomes a team from Pakistan for the first time. This new addition will take place in September of this year, with a change in venue as the league moves to England, having received approval from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.
The league, which commenced in March 2020, has already completed two successful seasons, both held in India. However, the third season will see a shift to England, with the exact dates still being finalized. The tournament is expected to span over nearly three weeks, and this time, nine teams will participate, as opposed to the eight teams in the previous edition.
The inaugural season began in March 2020 with teams from India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, and Australia. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was curtailed after just four games. The remaining matches resumed in March 2021 in Raipur, but Australia had to withdraw due to travel restrictions related to Covid-19. In their stead, Bangladesh joined the tournament, along with the addition of England.
The second season, held in Dehradun and Raipur in September 2022, saw the addition of an eighth team, New Zealand, and the return of Australia. Throughout both editions of the tournament, the India Legends team emerged victorious, defeating Sri Lanka Legends in the final in Raipur. The inclusion of a team from Pakistan in the upcoming season adds further excitement and diversity to this unique cricketing event.
