Pakistan A successfully defended their title in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday after registering an easy win over India A in the final in Colombo. Defending a huge target of 352 in the showdown clash against India A, the Pakistani side wrapped the Men in Blue for just 224 and won by 128 run margin.
Mohammad Haris led Pakistan A put their show on top and outperformed the Indian side. They not only showed their brilliant batting performances but also they were just flawless in their bowling department too.
Earlier in the game, India A won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pakistan A’s openers, Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan, got off to a roaring start, building an impressive partnership of 121 runs. The runs flowed effortlessly for the Pakistan A team in the beginning. Later, a brilliant century from Tayyab Tahir, who went on to smash 108 from 71 balls helped the Pakistan team to score a mammoth score of 352-8.
However, India’s bowlers made a strong comeback during the middle overs, taking quick wickets and putting pressure on the opposition team. But Tayyab Tahir had some other plans, his heroic knock turned the dimension of the game for the Pakistan team and turned it back in their favor. He made a crucial partnership of 126 runs for the 6th wicket with Mubasir Khan, propelling their total to an impressive 352 runs.
Riyan Parag and Rajvardhan Hangargekar picked up two crucial wickets each, while Manav Suthar, Harshit Rana, and Nishant Sindhu contributed with one wicket each.
In pursuit of the challenging target of 353 runs, Indian openers B Sai Sudharsan began with a positive and aggressive intent, forming a crucial partnership of 64 runs with Abhishek Sharma. But unfortunately, B Sai Sudharsan fell victim to a well-directed short ball and departed after scoring 29 runs.
Abhishek Sharma scored 61 and provided much hope to India A along with captain Yash Dhull. Both added 52 runs for the third wicket. But after Abhishek’s wicket India started crumbling and never recovered back. Yash Dhull stood there for his team from one end but he got no support from other batters as well.
The Pakistan A bowlers were too good on Sunday, they kept the Indians in check and kept taking regular scalps.
The remarkable bowling effort was displayed by Pakistan A’s bowlers, especially Sufiyan Muqueem who led the attack and took a three-wicket haul and was well-supported by Arshad Iqbal, Mohammad Wasim Jr and Mehran Mumtaz who claimed two wickets each. With this win, they successfully defended their title in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023, leaving their fans enchanted with their exceptional performance.
