BCCI announced the Indian squad for the Ireland tour and Jasprit Bumrah is named as the Captain whereas Ruturaj Gaikwad as his deputy. Bumrah will lead the Indian side in the upcoming 3-match T20I against Ireland starting from August 18.
Jasprit Bumrah, is all set to make a grand comeback to the squad for the upcoming Ireland T20Is in Dublin. Bumrah had been on the sidelines since September last year due to a back injury, but now he’s ready to make a comeback and lead the young Indian side. Joining him in the team is the left-handed batter, Rinku Singh, who has earned his maiden call-up to represent India, while the talented fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna, also secured a spot in the squad.
In preparation for the upcoming three-match T20Is against Ireland, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee wisely decided to give some of the star players a well-deserved rest, especially with the Asia Cup 2023 on the horizon. Regular Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are already not part of the T20 format plans. In addition to them, several other prominent players such as Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and stand-in captain Hardik Pandya have also been given a break.
Consequently, the selection board has opted for a fresh and relatively inexperienced squad, introducing some new faces, among them the impressive Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Tilak Varma. These talented left-handed batters showcased their remarkable performances during this year’s IPL, making a compelling case for their selection. Although Rinku missed out on the West Indies T20I opportunity, the selectors acknowledged his talent and offered him a golden chance to wear the Indian colors at the international level.
With Jasprit Bumrah’s return and the addition of promising players like Rinku Singh, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian Cricket Team is looking forward to an exciting and competitive series against Ireland.
Young Indian Players Are Getting The Opportunity:
Alongside Bumrah, The young Indian wicket-keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma who plays for Punjab Kings in IPL has already shown his credibility and has also got a call-up. While two of the seamers Prasidh Krishna and Avesh Khan, who were out of action, have been recalled to the Indian squad for the Ireland tour.
The BCCI selectors have announced the 15-man squad, and they have included Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and Shahbaz Ahmed in the all-rounder category.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been chosen as the Opening Pair, who will be seen starting the innings for the Indian team. Sanju Samson has managed to retain his place in the T20I squad, while Tilak Verma has got a call-back for the Ireland T20Is after getting selected for the West Indies tour first.
One notable highlight is the return of Bumrah after an 11-month hiatus, which has been eagerly awaited. In addition to Bumrah’s comeback, seamers Mukesh Kumar and left-armer Arshdeep Singh have also been named in the squad.
Players like Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have reached here after a lot of hurdles and delivering some blistering performances throughout the IPL tournament. This selection decision by the BCCI will undoubtedly bring excitement and anticipation to cricket enthusiasts.
