South Africa has announced their squad for the white ball series against Australia on Monday, August 14. Young sensational batter Dewald Brevis has earned his maiden call-up to the Proteas national team.
Dewald Brevis has achieved a huge milestone, obtaining his debut call-up to the national cricket squad. His remarkable batting skills in numerous domestic T20 leagues throughout the world have earned great attention. Born in Johannesburg, Brevis has been named in both the T20I and ODI squads, and the series is expected to begin on August 30.
Joining him in the T20I squad are two more young batters, Donovan Ferreira and Matthew Breetzke, both of whom are making their debut at the international level. Adding to the excitement, quick bowler Gerald Coetzee, who has previously represented South Africa in Tests and ODIs, has also earned his debut T20I selection.
In a significant comeback, Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen, who were absent from the T20I series against West Indies earlier this year, have returned to the side, further increasing its strength.
Keshav Maharaj, the brilliant South African left-arm spinner, will be making his comeback after recovering from a ruptured Achilles he suffered during a Test against West Indies earlier in the year. Despite anticipation that he would remain sidelined for the remainder of the year, his extraordinary progress has put him in contention for the 2023 World Cup.
It is worth mentioning that Maharaj’s actual participation in the playing XI will depend on his match fitness. It’s captivating that South Africa will release their initial World Cup team on September 5, shortly before the ODI series begins. However, revisions to the team can be made until September 27, allowing for possible changes based on numerous reasons.

The first encounter between South Africa and Australia will be a three-match T20I series starting on August 30. This will be followed by a five-match ODI series starting on September 7th.
