Get ready for an action-packed cricket season as India’s Senior Men’s team gears up to play 16 international matches at home. BCCI announced the schedule for Home Season for Team India (2023-24). The season will feature a thrilling mix of 5 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 8 T20Is against formidable opponents like Australia, England, and Afghanistan.
The cricket bonanza kicks off with a thrilling three-match ODI series against Australia just before the much-awaited World Cup 2023. This series will serve as a crucial warm-up for India as they prepare to host the 50-over World Cup from October 5 to November 19.
Following the World Cup, the Men in Blue will face Australia again, this time in a five-match T20 international series. The focus will shift to the shortest format in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in England next year.
Next on the roster is a T20 series against Afghanistan in January 2024. After that, India will face a significant challenge in the form of a five-Test series against England. Interestingly, all five Test matches will be played at non-regular venues, adding to the excitement.
To keep the promise of spreading matches across different venues, some cities that missed out on hosting the World Cup will get a chance to shine during India’s home season. Expect matches at venues like Mohali, Indore, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Trivandrum, Guwahati, Nagpur, Ranchi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Dharamshala.
The cricket fiesta begins on September 22 with the ODI series against Australia, and the action continues non-stop after the World Cup, with a brief four-day break before the T20 series against Australia starts on November 23.
India’s home season will culminate in an exciting five-match Test series against England. The battles will be spread across different cities, starting in Hyderabad on January 25 and ending in Dharamshala on March 11.
Once the home season concludes, the Indian players will gear up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, adding to the cricketing frenzy in the first half of the following year.
