India’s star all-rounder has given a fiery reply to former Indian captain Kapil Dev for his remarks on the Indian cricket team.
In a recent event, where Kapil Dev responded to a previous statement made by his former teammate and legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar had mentioned that the current Indian players never sought his assistance during challenging times in their careers, in contrast to past legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and VVS Laxman who had sought his guidance.
Kapil Dev didn’t hold back and took a dig at the current Team India members, describing them as ‘arrogant’ and ‘know-it-all’. His remarks indicate his perception that the present players may not be as willing to seek advice or help as their predecessors were.
In an interview with The Week, Kapil expressed his views and said that, with current Indian players being handed heavy contracts, especially in IPL, they have become arrogant and feel that they know everything. He had said:
“Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything. That’s the difference. I would say there are so many cricketers who need help. When Sunil Gavaskar is there, why can’t you talk? Why should there be ego? They feel they are good enough. Maybe they are good enough, but extra help from somebody, who has seen 50 seasons of cricket, won’t hurt. He knows which side the grass grows and where the sun comes out from,”
Ravindra Jadeja Gave Fiery Reply To Kapil Dev
Meanwhile, during the pre-match interview on Monday for the series decider in West Indies, Ravindra Jadeja was asked about Kapil Dev’s remark and the star all-rounder came up with a sharp reply. He said:
“I don’t know when he has said this. I don’t search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share his opinion, but I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team,”
Jadeja also expressed that such comments typically arise following a loss incurred by Team India. He went on to explain that every player in the Indian dressing room holds immense pride in representing their country. Their dedication lies in delivering their absolute best performance without any personal agenda. According to him:
“Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 per cent. Such comments generally come when Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys, this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda,” he concluded.
