Prithvi Shaw’s bizarre dismissal in the debut match has caught the attention of cricket fans on the internet.
After not being selected for the West Indies tour and the upcoming Asian Games, Prithvi Shaw chose a different path to make his comeback to the Indian cricket team. He joined Northamptonshire in London to participate in the Royal London One-Day Cup. However, his debut didn’t go as planned, and he was dismissed in an unusual manner.
During the Group B match between Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire in the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2023, Shaw made his debut for Northants. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find his rhythm and lost his wicket to a bouncer bowled by Paul van Meekeren. While attempting a pull shot, he lost balance and accidentally hit the stumps while falling.
It’s important to mention that Prithvi Shaw last played for the Indian cricket team in 2021. Although he was part of the squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, he didn’t get a chance to play. Shaw had a challenging time during the 2023 Indian Premier League for Delhi Capitals and was eventually dropped from the team mid-tournament.
Meanwhile, ahead of his county stint, Prithvi Shaw said that it is not the right time for him to make changes in the game. He said:
“I don’t think it will be the right time to make any adjustments to my game now,” Shaw stated. “Whatever adjustments I had to make to my game, has already been done. Once I go there and get my eyes set, I just need to play my natural game.”
