England star batter Ollie Pope who was ruled out of the last three Ashes test matches in 2023 due to a shoulder injury, is all set to make his thrilling comeback before the Test series against India.
In the recently concluded Ashes 2023, the young English talent, Ollie Pope, encountered an unfortunate shoulder injury. As a result, the top-order batsman had to sit out the last three matches of the thrilling series.
However, the good news is that the 25-year-old is making steady progress in his recovery and is expected to be fully fit to resume action by mid-November. In July, Pope underwent surgery to address the dislocated shoulder issue.
Following his recuperation, he plans to participate in a couple of white-ball matches, as part of his preparation for England’s upcoming red-ball assignment against India in the subcontinent.
Pope has expressed that he is feeling much better now and anticipates a return to professional cricket in about three to four months.
“The shoulder is as good as it can be at this point. I had surgery a couple of weeks ago now, I’m happy to get past that and I’ve got another three or four months of recovery to get it right,” Pope was quoted as saying by The Cricketer.
“I’ll be fit and available for selection from the middle of November, so whoever picks me for what I’ll take it on and hopefully get some cricket in before that India tour in January,” the Middlesex-born cricketer added.
As the much-anticipated five-match series against India approaches, the question remains unanswered regarding Ollie Pope’s game time. The series is scheduled to commence on January 25 in Hyderabad. In the year 2022, the talented cricketer actively took part in several T20 leagues like Big Bash and the inaugural edition of SA20 as well.
However, with his recent shoulder injury, there is uncertainty surrounding his participation this time. It remains to be seen if teams will show the same enthusiasm in having him on board considering his current injury concern.
