Mohammad Haris led Pakistan A successfully managed to defend their Emerging Asia Cup title after they thrashed India by 128 runs in the final.
In the recent match between Pakistan A and India, there was an interesting contrast in the teams’ composition. Pakistan A had a seasoned squad, with seven players who had prior experience playing for the national team. On the other hand, India opted for a young and fresh team, where none of the players had represented the country internationally before.
However, India faced defeat in the final, and some fans criticized Pakistan for fielding an experienced side against their youthful team. In response, Pakistan A captain, Mohammad Haris, defended his team’s selection, pointing out that it wasn’t their call to decide the Indian squad. He clarified that it was a decision made by the board.
Haris further explained that even though the seven Pakistan players had previous national team exposure, their actual match experience was relatively limited. In contrast, the Indian players had an advantage with more than 250 IPL matches collectively.
This clash of perspectives highlights the different strategies adopted by the two teams, and it’s evident that both experience and youth can bring their strengths and challenges to the game.
“People are saying that Pakistan sent A team with many seniors. We did not ask them to send little kids to the tournament. They say that we had international experience in our team. How much international matches have we played but? Saim has played 5, I have played 6. Those guys (India players) have played 260 IPL matches,” Haris was quoted as saying by Zee News.
Despite India’s loss in the final, they showcased their dominance throughout the tournament, emerging as the standout team. Their journey to the final was remarkable, with an undefeated streak, including a victory over Pakistan A in a league match.
Impressively, three Indian players stood out among the top four run-scorers of the entire tournament. Yash Dhull led the pack with an impressive tally of 234 runs, while Abhishek Sharma and Sai Sudarshan closely followed with 221 and 220 runs, respectively. Nishant Sandhu, Manav Suthar, and RS Hangargekar, with 11, 10, and 10 wickets respectively were the top three wicket-takers of the tournament.
This exceptional performance by the Indian team and their batsmen’s remarkable display in the tournament underline their strength and prowess in the game of cricket. Even in defeat, their outstanding performance and consistent victories make them the team to watch out for in future competitions.
