Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Ayush Badoni expressed his gratitude towards Justin Langer, the former coach of Australia, following his impressive half-century against the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 match.
Ayush Badoni proved to be the saving grace for Lucknow Super Giants as they managed to avoid a premature collapse against Delhi Capitals. Despite a shaky start that saw them at 94 for seven, Badoni’s explosive batting ensured they completed their innings, posting a respectable total of 167/7 within the allotted 20 overs.
In the IPL 2024 match, Badoni showcased a remarkable improvement in his performance, notably scoring a rapid fifty. He credited his resurgence to the support and guidance provided by Captain KL Rahul and head coach Justin Langer, who stood by him during his initial struggles this season.
Expressing his gratitude, Badoni specifically acknowledged Justin Langer during the post-match press conference, highlighting the valuable batting techniques he had learned from the coach during an Australian camp the previous year.
“The start of the season was not good but I was doing well at the nets. So, I am thankful to KL Rahul and Justin Langer for backing me, and giving me a chance,” Badoni said during a post-game media interaction.
Describing his strategy amidst his team’s difficulties in scoring runs, the right-handed player explained: “While I was batting, I was just thinking of taking the game deep, and then attack because if we bat till 20 overs, we can score 150 plus. I think we were 20 runs short. I was quite motivated because I was batting well at the nets so I was just backing myself, I was just waiting for the knock which came today.”
Badoni disclosed that he journeyed to Australia last September, where he engaged in training sessions with Langer to hone his skills.
“I spoke a lot to KL Rahul and he backs me every time. He tells me you are the best player and you can finish well. I also share a good bonding with Justin. I went to Australia last year and there also he made me learn a few things and improved my game,” Badoni said.
“I went to Australia in September last which was facilitated by LSG where we had a training camp with Justin for 10 days and that helped me a lot,” he concluded.
Lucknow suffered their second loss in IPL 2024 when they faced off against Delhi Capitals on Friday, April 12. Despite the setback in their previous match, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) still maintain a position in the upper half of the points table.
