During the 3rd T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan in Dunedin, Mohammad Rizwan engaged in some entertaining running between the wickets.
Mohammad Rizwan is no stranger to on-field behaviors, and he once again exhibited his flair for the theatrical during the third T20I game between New Zealand and Pakistan in Dunedin on January 17.
Facing the arduous challenge of chasing down New Zealand’s formidable total of 224/7, Pakistan found themselves in a bad place as their spinners battled to restrict the Kiwi batsmen. The pressure was on, but Rizwan, along with Babar Azam, tried to steady the innings.
Despite their efforts, the duo couldn’t achieve a triumph. Amid this stressful match, Rizwan introduced a bit of humor to the proceedings. During the final over of the powerplay, while facing Matt Henry, Rizwan’s shot to deep mid-wicket resulted in a humorous moment. Instead of using the bat to mark his crease, Rizwan opted for a more relaxed approach. He casually slouched down, tapping the non-striker’s crease, swiftly turning around, and sprinting for the second run. A strong throw and the absence of a bat forced Rizwan into a last-minute dive. Luckily for him and Pakistan, it seemed like all was well. Or so everyone thought. Upon closer inspection of the replay, it was evident that Rizwan had committed a short run. His gloves crossed the popping crease and touched the ground a couple of centimeters earlier than anticipated.
Even in the face of pressure, Rizwan managed to excite both fans and analysts, indicating that his flare for on-field theatrics matches his cricketing skills.
Here is how fans reacted to the Mohammad Rizwan’s incident:
