Virat Kohli is said to be planning to participate in the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday, January 22.
Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been extended an invitation to attend the ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22. Amidst his commitments to the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, Kohli is expected to join the ceremony after his practice session on January 21, following a two-day break for the Indian team.
The 35-year-old received the invitation at his Mumbai residence in the company of his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma. Other notable invitees include former cricket legends MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, who will also grace the grand occasion of the homecoming of Lord Ram Lalla.
While Kohli gears up for the third T20I against Afghanistan in Bengaluru, where the Indian team currently holds a 2-0 lead in the series, he is set to head to Ayodhya post his practice session. The entire 16-member squad will assemble in Hyderabad on January 20, with Kohli joining the sacred event after the ceremony’s completion.
Prior to Kohli, invitations were extended to former Indian cricket captains MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar. Both cricket icons are slated to attend the Pran Pratistha ceremony on January 22. Volunteers from RSS and VHP are actively reaching out to individuals to extend invitations for this significant event in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
The Indian team, after the T20I series, is set to focus on the upcoming Test series against England, commencing on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Kohli, who made a notable comeback to the T20I side after 14 months, showcased his attacking prowess during the second game of the series in Indore.
As Kohli continues his training at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the anticipation is high for India to secure a 3-0 victory in the T20I series against Afghanistan. The cricketer had missed the first T20I in Mohali due to personal reasons but returned with a strong performance in the second game at Holkar Stadium in Indore.
