Team India veteran bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is known for his swing, last played for the Indian team in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2022. Reports are coming out to state that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is unlikely to get a chance to play for Team India. Aaron Finch has revealed his struggle against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a humorous way.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the skilled Indian fast bowler, is renowned for his mastery in swing bowling. His ability to manipulate the new ball’s movement has posed challenges for some of the world’s best opening batsmen in diverse conditions.
One opener who consistently felt Bhuvneshwar’s impact was former Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch. Finch’s vulnerability to incoming deliveries, stemming from his tendency to shift his front leg too much, was exploited by Bhuvi’s adept use of early swing.
In the realm of international cricket, Bhuvneshwar accounted for Finch’s wicket seven times. This included four dismissals during one-day internationals (ODIs), surprisingly occurring consecutively in a series back in 2019.
During a Q&A session on ‘X’ formerly Twitter, the Aussie was questioned about his difficulties against the veteran Indian pacer. “Big fan here, why did bhuvi troubled you a bit.. Could you elaborate? Is it your feet coming across??” a fan asked Finch.
To which he replied, “Yep!! Tried for 15 years to stop that happening.”
Finch decided to step away from international cricket earlier in 2023. He initially declared his retirement from ODIs in 2022 but continued to lead Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup at home last year. The right-handed batsman holds records for two of the top three highest individual T20I scores. His 172 against Zimbabwe in July 2018 surpassed his previous best of 156 against England in 2013. He also took part in the inaugural season of Major League Cricket, where he captained the San Francisco Unicorns.
On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar is not expected to feature in Team India soon. His last appearance was in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2022. The 33-year-old did, however, participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He even led the team in a few matches when regular captain Aiden Markram was unavailable.
Recently, he raised speculation about his future with the Indian team by making a small change to his Instagram bio. He removed the word ‘cricketer’ from his profile, which used to read ‘Indian cricketer.’
