Mustafizur Rahman, the pacer for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), won’t be available for their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
In the latest update, it’s been revealed that Mustafizur Rahman, the renowned bowler from Bangladesh, won’t be participating in the upcoming IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His absence adds to the long list of players who’ve missed matches due to injuries or personal commitments during IPL tournament.
Rahman’s reason for missing the clash is rather intriguing. He has to jet back to Bangladesh to sort out his US visa ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled for June in the Caribbean and the United States. The timing couldn’t be more inconvenient, especially since Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are gearing up to face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 5.
Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Rahman back in action as he’s expected to return to India sometime between April 7-9. His debut for CSK against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was quite a memorable one, with the left-arm pacer snagging four wickets for 29 runs. In his three matches so far, he’s managed to take seven wickets at an economy rate of 8.83, showcasing his skill and impact on the field.
Jalal Yunus, the chairman of BCB’s cricket operations, told Cricbuzz on Wednesday that Mustafizur Rahman had returned from the IPL to help with the US visa process for the T20 World Cup.
“Mustafizur arrived last night from the IPL for US visa purposes for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He will be giving his fingerprint at the US embassy tomorrow (April 4) and later will travel back to India to join Chennai,” Jalal Yunus told Cricbuzz.
Additionally, it’s important to mention that the willy pacer is slated to participate in the IPL only until the end of April. Following this, he’s anticipated to join Bangladesh for their upcoming five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, commencing on May 3rd.
The Chennai Super Kings might feel the pinch with Mustafizur Rahman sitting out of the upcoming game. He’s a key player for them in the IPL 2024 season, having taken seven wickets in three matches, which puts him at the top of the wicket-taker list and earns him the prestigious Purple Cap.
