The Indian cricket team is all set to take on West Indies in the second T20I match of the 5-match series in Guyana. West Indies had defeated India in the opening match of the series by 4 runs. As the game started, the left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was not a part of the playing XI.
On a thrilling Sunday, August 06, cricket fans were treated to the second T20I match of a 5-match series between the Indian cricket team, led by Hardik Pandya, and the West Indies cricket team, led by Rovman Powell. The exciting clash took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
During the ODI series against the West Indies, Kuldeep Yadav had been in great form, and his impressive performance continued into the T20I series, where he managed to take a wicket in the first game. His four overs played a crucial role in dismissing Johnson Charles, conceding just 20 runs.
However, there was a setback for Yadav and his supporters in the second T20I match as he couldn’t participate. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury to his left thumb while batting in the nets. As a result, he had to sit out of the match to ensure proper recovery and care for his injury, as confirmed by the BCCI.
The BCCI updated:
“UPDATE: Kuldeep Yadav got hit while batting in the nets and was unavailable for selection for the 2nd T20I due to a sore left thumb,”
Meanwhile, speaking at the toss, captain Hardik Pandya informed that Kuldeep Yadav has been replaced by young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the team. He said:
“We will bat first, surface looks good. We will put good score on the board. I don’t we did much wrong in the last game, we spoke about it and the focus is to learn and keep going ahead. When we have these totals, you gotta keep wickets in hand and that’s what happened in the last game where we lost a couple of wickets during crunch moments.
“We have a forced change. Kuldeep got a hit on the hand yesterday in the nets, it is not serious and just a precautionary measure. Ravi Bishnoi comes in place of him.”
