Indian batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad showered compliments on Rinku Singh for his remarkable display in the second T20I against Ireland. Gaikwad emphasized that the left-handed batsman possesses a remarkable instinct for choosing the right moments to adopt an aggressive style, especially in his role as a finisher.
In the three-game T20I series, India secured a massive 2-0 lead. They achieved this by clinching a 33-run victory in the second match hosted at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin. Opting to field first, the captain of the home team, Paul Stirling, made the decision. The Irish bowlers fared effectively right from the outset, capturing two wickets within the initial five overs. Additionally, they succeeded in keeping the scoring rate below normal ranges.
Following Gaikwad’s vital innings of 58 runs off 43 balls, he forged a key partnership of 71 runs with Sanju Samson, who produced a fast 40 off 26 balls. Rinku’s quick yet significant effort put much-needed energy into India’s batting. With a blistering display, Rinku struck an impressive 38 runs from 21 deliveries, propelling India to a total of 185 for 5. This score proved to be a task that Ireland couldn’t overcome, falling short by 33 runs.
Rinku’s remarkable performance didn’t go unnoticed. His contribution won him the award of Player of the Match in only his second international outing, signifying a huge achievement for the 26-year-old batsman.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Praises Rinku Singh For His Stunning Knock
During the post-match presentation, the vice-captain of the Indian team for the Ireland tour, Ruturaj Gaikwad highlighted the valuable lessons that young players can gather from observing Rinku’s gameplay.
“Rinku is already everyone’s favorite in the IPL. The way he has batted in the IPL, he has shown a lot of maturity. I think one of the standout things about him is that he doesn’t attack from ball one. He gives himself time, no matter what the situation is. He always assesses the condition and then starts to take on the bowlers,” Gaikwad said.
Ruturaj further goes on to praise the finishing abilities of the young batter Rinku Singh and he said:
“It is good learning from all the upcoming players who want to be a finisher. It is always important that you take some time, and you can always cover it up later. He knows when to pull the trigger. It was an important innings for him; he was batting for the first time in international cricket. I feel this will help him a lot,” he added.
