KL Rahul, the Indian middle-order batsman, is poised to make a comeback to the cricket field after sitting out the second Test match against England.
Rahul faced back issues, forcing him to sit out of the Vizag match against England. However, KL Rahul showcased an impressive performance in the series opener in Hyderabad, contributing 86 runs in the first innings and aiding India in posting a respectable total.
Included in the squad for the final three Tests against England, Rahul is back in action, hitting the nets for training. Sharing a glimpse of his session on Instagram, he assured his fans that he’s eager and prepared to make a comeback to the team.
KL Rahul has faced a series of challenges in recent months, dealing with exclusion from the team and various injuries. Around this time last year, he struggled with his red-ball form, leading to his omission from the Test side. Despite this setback, Rahul continued to shine in white-ball cricket.
During the 2023 Indian Premier League, while fielding on the boundary, Rahul suffered a thigh injury that required surgery in London. This forced him out of international cricket for nearly four months.
India has included Rahul, Jadeja, and Siraj in the squad for the remaining three Test matches, contingent on fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team. The board confirmed this development, announcing the squad on Saturday.
The upcoming third Test, scheduled for February 15 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, may see KL Rahul replacing Shreyas Iyer, pending his fitness assessment. Ravindra Jadeja, a standout performer in the first Test against England, missed the second game due to a hamstring injury.
