In recent times, Mohammed Siraj, the rising star of Team India’s bowling lineup, has truly come into his own. His journey began with some obstacles in finding his position on the International cricket stage, but eventually, he developed into a deadly pace sensation for India.
Mohammed Siraj has truly emerged as a major force in recent years. His path started with difficulties with finding his footing in International cricket, but eventually, he developed into one of the most threatening speed bowlers in India’s lineup. Working alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, Siraj’s job takes critical significance in the next Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. These major competitions are clearly in the sights of the Men in Blue.
Shifting our emphasis to Siraj, Ishant Sharma, the veteran speed bowler, has conferred upon him the status of the present top pacer in the Indian side. While keeping an eye on Bumrah’s performance hinging on his fitness, Sharma recommended that playing wisely is vital for him to prevent injuries. It’s interesting to note that Sharma also pointed out the bright potential of Mukesh Kumar, Umran Malik, and Arshdeep Singh — the burgeoning stars of India’s future pace artillery.
“Siraj obviously (is the current star of India’s fast bowling unit). Should we add Bumrah or not, depends on fitness. I think Bumrah will have to play smart. There is no Test series until the World Cup, so he has to just play white-ball cricket. After that, Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep, and Umran Malik,” Ishant Sharma said in his interview with JioCinema.
After the West Indies series finished, both Siraj and Shami enjoyed a well-deserved break before the Ireland tour. The much-awaited comeback of Jasprit Bumrah in the three-match series turned out to be quite a spectacle, and it was all because of his excellent performance that India claimed the title with a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Currently, the attention has switched to Bengaluru, where all three pacers, along with Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, are tirelessly sweating it out in regular practice sessions. Among these, Mohammed Shami has been shining out in the nets, exhibiting exceptional form. This hints at his potential to become a major force to be reckoned with in the forthcoming Asia Cup, which is just around the corner, commencing on August 30. Excitement is building up as India sets up to start off the tournament against Pakistan on September 2 in Sri Lanka.
