Despite not making it to the World Cup 2023 squad, the experienced Indian opener batsman Shikhar Dhawan has extended his wholehearted support to his fellow Team India players and conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming tournament on home soil.
Shikhar Dhawan has embraced a positive view on life despite enduring setbacks such as being left out of the Indian team across multiple formats.
Recently, he made a visit to the renowned Jyotirlinga temple of Baba Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain. His objective was twofold: to seek blessings from the deity Mahadev and to offer prayers for Team India’s victory in the 2023 World Cup. Interestingly, the well-known Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, along with his son Aarav and sister Alka Bhatia, also paid a visit to the same shrine on his 56th birthday.
Speaking to the media after his visit to the Mahakaleshwar temple, Shikhar Dhawan said: “Everyone’s wish is that India wins the World Cup and I have also asked for the same wish.”
“Congratulations to my fellow teammates and friends chosen to represent India in the WC 2023 tournament! With the prayers and support of 1.5 billion people, you carry our hopes and dreams. May you bring the cup back home and make us proud! Go all out, Team India!” Dhawan had recently tweeted.
It appears that Shikhar Dhawan’s journey with the Indian cricket team has reached its conclusion. He had an incredible partnership with Rohit Sharma, which made them the most successful ODI pair of the past decade. Dhawan’s cricketing career has seen him amass a total of 2315 Test runs, 6793 runs in ODIs, and 1759 runs in T20Is. Despite his international retirement, he continues to be a part of the IPL, representing the Punjab Kings.
