The upcoming Asia Cup 2023 is just on the horizon. Scheduled to kick off on August 30, this prominent tournament will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
With a team including some of the finest players in world cricket, it’s only natural for expectations to be high regarding India’s success in the upcoming tournament. A victory in this event might substantially enhance their spirits as they look ahead to the forthcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. Under the guidance of Rohit Sharma, Team India has earned the label of being the clear frontrunner, with all eyes on them to clinch the championship crown.
As the competition approaches near, notable Indian women’s cricket player, Shafali Verma, has stepped up to provide her observations on the Asia Cup 2023. Verma shared her conviction that India looked especially strong as they approach the event and confidently predicted their triumphant emergence from the competition.
“The team looks very strong. All those who were missing owing to injuries are making a comeback. So, I think Team India has become very strong. So, I think they will win,” Shafali Verma was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Moreover, Shafali Verma also addressed the current dispute involving Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her strong reaction toward the umpire’s decisions in the recent match against Bangladesh.
Verma expressed her viewpoint that while she can’t specifically comment on Harmanpreet Kaur’s actions, she emphasized that each team member strives to contribute positively to the team’s cause. She highlighted that regardless of the challenges faced, the significance of putting in diligent effort remains undiminished.
“I can’t say about Harmanpreet Kaur….but as a team, we are always just thinking of doing well for the Indian team, for our country. Sometimes we will go up or down. But we can work hard anytime, so we just believe in working hard. That is what we are thinking,” Shafali Verma said.
