According to reports, India’s star batter KL Rahul has been declared Fit and will be available for selection for the Asia Cup 2023.
India’s talented wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul seems to be on the path to recovery and is all set to make a comeback to international cricket. He suffered an injury during a thrilling Indian Premier League 2023 match between his team, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
During that match on May 1, Rahul hurt his right thigh while attempting to stop a boundary in the second over. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t continue and batted at number eleven later in the innings, struggling to run and score. Unfortunately, Lucknow Super Giants lost that match by 18 runs.
“The coaches and medical experts at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore are satisfied with Rahul’s progress/recovery. He will be available for selection for the Asia Cup,” reported by TOI.
Recently, there have been positive signs of his recovery as he was seen practicing in the nets. According to reports, KL Rahul is now completely fit and eligible for selection. There are chances that he might return to the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 13 and will be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. India’s first match will be against their arch-rivals, Pakistan, on September 2 at Pallekele.
On the other hand, another promising batsman, Shreyas Iyer, may not be available for the Asia Cup due to an ongoing back problem, even after undergoing surgery.
Meanwhile, Team India is currently engaged in a five-match T20I series against West Indies, where they lost the first game. Following this series, they will play 3 T20Is against Ireland, where the fans might witness Jasprit Bumrah back in action after nearly a year-long absence from international cricket.
