The renowned cricket analyst Tom Moody took a moment to ponder the immense importance of the showdown between India and Pakistan. He drew parallels to the revered Ashes series while delving into the strengths and factors to weigh for both teams.
As we eagerly approach the much-awaited cricket clash between India and Pakistan at the Asia Cup 2023, we’re fortunate to gather insights from the renowned cricket analyst, Tom Moody. With bated breath, Moody delved into the complexities that are shaping India’s preparations and the difficulties they could meet.
Moody took a minute to highlight the great significance of the India-Pakistan battle, drawing an analogy to the prestigious Ashes series. He remarked on the unique moments that surround particular occasions, ones that go beyond ordinary sportsmanship, sparking the enthusiasm of spectators on both sides.
Turning his attention to the teams, Moody analyzed the strengths and probable obstacles that lay ahead for both India and Pakistan. He effectively walked through the strategies each side must consider as they set up for this big face-off.
“I think this match surpasses the Ashes. It’s always got a lovely story to it, and both are outstanding cricketing nations. And when you look at that Pakistan squad, it does boast a lot of talent. But one thing that stands out for me is that it also boasts experience,” Moody told Star Sports.
“So now they have the combination of experience and talent, they are a real threat. They can match India with their pace bowling; they’ve got genuine pace on their side, and the only issue I see them potentially having is the depth in the quality of their batting which India has got. So that’s going to be the interesting pressure that they put on the likes of Babar Azam at the top of the order,” he added.
Shaheen Afridi with the new ball is a major threat Says Tom Moody
Moody also highlighted the crucial importance of Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi, especially when he opens the bowling, in potentially causing disruption in India’s batting lineup.
“Shaheen Afridi. Full Stop. I just think that Shaheen Afridi with the new ball is a major threat, which he has done historically. Broken through with that new ball, manages to blow away a couple of early wickets, which then opens up the middle order for India to resurrect things. Particularly for a middle order that hasn’t had a lot of game time,” Moody said.
In the next ODI World Cup 2023, the responsibility of leading Pakistan’s bowling assault would rest on the shoulders of Shaheen Shah Afridi. Before the highly anticipated World Cup, cricket aficionados may look forward to witnessing Shaheen Afridi’s skills on show during the Asia Cup 2023. This thrilling tournament will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and it is set to take place from August 30 to September 17.
