As per the reports, Jasprit Bumrah is doing really well in his rehab in the NCA and also recovering faster than usual. The time is not too far when he will be seen playing in the Blue Jersey, bowling some yorkers on the ground.
It has been more than a year since we have seen Bumrah playing on the ground, delivering and rattling his opponents with his fire-breathing yorkers. He is all set to make a comeback in International Cricket after a long year. Reports say that Bumrah has almost fully recovered in his fitness and has been continuously bowling in the nets to get into his rhythm.
Bumrah’s absence from the national side has hurt India a lot in the last year, especially in the mega-events. If Bumrah had been a part of the Indian side in the previous T-20 World Cup 2022 and World Test Championship Final 2023, the scenario would have been a bit different from what we had seen. But not to be disappointed for too long as the pacer is eyeing on his possible comeback before the Asia Cup.
As per the Report, Bumrah could be seen as a part of the Indian squad that will be touring Ireland in the month of the Month, where they will be playing a 3-match T20I series. The BCCI is likely to send a second team for the Ireland tour as the main team will be preparing for the Asia Cup which is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka from August 31 to September 17. This would be a perfect series to make a comeback for Bumrah and he will be desperate to get his form back as well.
Last month, a PTI report revealed that Bumah had started bowling at the NCA and could soon start playing a few practice matches.
“For an injury of this nature, it is not wise to set any timeline as constant monitoring is necessary. But it can be said that Bumrah is recovering well and he has bowled seven overs at NCA nets. It is a steady increase in his workload from the light workouts and bowling sessions of the initial period. He will play a few practice matches (at NCA) next month, and there will be a close assessment of his fitness then,” a source tracking the development told PTI.
Ramji Srinivasan, former strength and conditioning coach of Team India, said extreme care should be taken while bringing back Bumrah.
“He should not be hurried. Playing practice matches at the NCA is a good step as it will help tune his body to the demands of a match. But he should be made to play in some actual (domestic) matches before bringing him to top-level cricket,” Ramji had said.
