Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head smashed a stunning century in just 39 balls in the ongoing IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
In Monday’s clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Travis Head of Sunrisers Hyderabad once again displayed his love for Indian pitches in the Indian Premier League, as he lit up the stadium with a breathtaking century. Head, known for his aggressive batting, opened the innings and immediately launched a fierce assault on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers.
In just 20 balls, Head reached his half-century, propelling SRH to a commanding 75/0 in 5.5 overs during the initial powerplay. With his trademark explosive style, Head continued to pile on the runs, eventually reaching his maiden IPL century in a mere 39 deliveries. His blazing innings not only rewrote the record books but also marked the fourth-fastest century in IPL history.
Throughout his innings, Head showed no mercy to the bowlers, dominating from the first ball itself. Before his remarkable knock, only the legendary Adam Gilchrist had represented Australia on the list of IPL centurions, achieving the feat in the tournament’s inaugural season.
While Head stole the show with his century, Heinrich Klaasen also played a crucial role for RCB with a brutal knock of 67 runs. However, their efforts were overshadowed by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s relentless batting display.
The duo of Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad ensured that SRH capitalized on their strong start, forming an unbeaten 56-run partnership. As a result, Sunrisers Hyderabad set a mammoth total of 287 runs on the board, breaking their own record for the highest team total in IPL history, previously set at 277 runs.
The fans, witnessing Head’s sensational century, took to social media to express their excitement and awe at the Aussie batter’s extraordinary performance.
