Former Indian and Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu wants to see Rohit Sharma in the CSK jersey in the 2025 season.
Ambati Rayudu expressed his desire to see Rohit Sharma playing for Chennai Super Kings and taking on the leadership role once MS Dhoni steps down. The uncertainty surrounding Rohit Sharma’s future with Mumbai Indians arose when he was unexpectedly removed as the team’s captain for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder from India, has been appointed as the new captain for the IPL 2024 season, raising questions about Rohit Sharma’s association with Mumbai Indians.
Following Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians, a significant shift occurred within the franchise as the dynamic all-rounder was named the new captain. This development prompted several cricketers to share cryptic stories on Instagram, adding an air of mystery to the situation.
Tensions escalated when Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit Sharma’s wife, criticized Mark Boucher’s comments, deeming them misleading. Boucher had suggested that Rohit Sharma’s recent batting performances had not been up to par, leading to the decision to relieve him of captaincy. Since then, both players and management have maintained a conspicuous silence on the matter.
Amid uncertainty about Rohit Sharma’s future with Mumbai Indians, Ambati Rayudu expressed his desire to see his former India and IPL teammate wear the Chennai Super Kings jersey in 2025.
“I want Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in 2025, if MS retires then Rohit can lead as well,” Ambati Rayudu told News 24 Sports.
Rohit’s incredible journey in the IPL has been nothing short of remarkable. With six title wins, he stands as the sole player with such a phenomenal record and currently holds the fourth position in the list of highest run-scorers in the tournament. After leading India to a 4-1 victory against England in all five Test matches, the 36-year-old skipper is set to rejoin the Mumbai Indians camp following a well-deserved short break. While he basks in the success of the Test series, Rohit is expected to take around a week off before diving into the T20 excitement as the IPL kicks off on March 22 in Chennai. Mumbai Indians opening game against Gujarat Titans is scheduled for March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
